以毕设为题，厦门大学ICI设计季观展指南来了

The current transformation in the field of design is remarkable: the professional responsibility and mission of designers are no longer just creators but also explorers and innovators of society. Faced with the rapid development of AI technology, based on interdisciplinary theories and practices in psychology, sociology, anthropology, environmental science, etc., designers have been constantly reflecting on old issues and discovering new ones, delving deeply into the relationship between humans and their surroundings from multiple-dimensional perspectives. Some new theoretical frameworks have emerged, bringing new insights, ideas, and motivations to complex design practices. Social design, critical design, sustainable design, artificial intelligence design, and future design... these trends have not only changed the professional roles of designers but also indicated the urgency of change in today's design education and teaching systems. It can be said that design education is more focused than ever on cultivating students' innovative thinking guided by critical thinking and their qualities of comprehensive social participation responsibility.

Xiamen University and the University for the Creative Arts in the UK have collaborated in the field of art and design. In 2019, they jointly established the Institute of Creativity and Innovation, which became Xiamen University's first Sino-foreign cooperative institution approved by the Ministry of Education. Over the past four years, we have taken advantage of the establishment of this new institute by launching a comprehensive reform in educational resources, educational positioning, and faculty structure. We have systematically introduced high-quality educational resources from the UK, integrated teaching contents from both the Chinese and the British sides, and made substantial adjustments in talent cultivation, disciplinary positioning, and curriculum setting. Meanwhile, in just three years, the institute has rapidly established a highly internationalized faculty team. These reform measures have created an excellent teaching and research platform with a strong cross-cultural and interdisciplinary character for this newly established institute, providing new avenues and infinite possibilities for achieving the goal of cultivating top-notch design talents needed in the era.

ICI Design Season is an annual academic event brand launched by the Institute of Creativity and Innovation, Xiamen University, on the occasion of hosting its first ICI Degree Show. It aims to bring design out of the campus, interact with urban renewal, rural revitalization, creative industries, and the development of AI technology, and provide innovation achievements to society, sharing people's needs and desires for a better life.

ICI Design Season will continue to provide a platform to showcase the ICI Degree Show at this time every year. We hope that it can accurately reflect the current dynamics of innovative design and make some predictive forecasts for the future trends in design development. We look forward to attracting more and more art and design schools from home and abroad to participate, gather in Xiamen, a beautiful island city in southern China, and jointly explore and share cross-cultural and interdisciplinary educational and teaching concepts and achievements.

The Institute of Creativity and Innovation (ICI) was established in 2019 with the joint partnership between Xiamen University (XMU), China and the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), U.K. With the approval of the Ministry of Education of China, ICI is the first Chinese-foreign cooperative education institution of XMU. The first cohort of ICI students has been recruited in September 2020. ICI offers three programs currently, including Visual Communication Design, Environmental Design and Digital Media Arts. ICI adopts "4+0" mode, that is, students who have completed all the academic requirements in China and passed all applicable assessments of both universities will receive Undergraduate Graduation Certificates and Bachelor Degree awarded by XMU and Bachelor Degree conferred by UCA. ICI has more than 90 faculty and staff members, including over 50 full-time teachers from both XMU and UCA. Now more than 1,000 students are registered in ICI. Integrating from the advanced educational concepts and advantages of both universities, and building on the exceptional educational resources of both countries, ICI is committed to cultivating top-notch talents with global vision, multidisciplinary knowledge, superior creativity, and innovation ability.
